Charity golf event raises $100,000 for local nonprofits

The Foundation is on a mission to help our communities thrive

Newcastle, WA – The Golf Club at Newcastle welcomed players from across the country on August 27 for the annual Global Credit Union Foundation Fairway Friends Golf Tournament. The day was marked by friendly competition, camaraderie, and on-course activities hosted by Global employees and tournament beneficiaries, culminating in $100,000 raised for local nonprofits.

The Global Credit Union Foundation hosts this tournament every year to unite business partners, credit union leaders, volunteers, and the community in support of Foundation nonprofit partners.

"It was inspiring to see players travel from across the country to support organizations that make such a meaningful difference in our communities," said Geoff Lundfelt, President of the Global Credit Union Foundation. "We are especially grateful to our sponsors, volunteers, and the Global employees who hosted activities throughout the course and helped make the tournament a memorable success."

$50,000 of the proceeds will benefit the Armed Services YMCA, which provides programs and services that support junior enlisted service members and military families.

$50,000 will also support Camp Fire Central Puget Sound, which helps young people learn, lead, and thrive through inclusive youth development programs.
