Think twice before sharing your personal information

The holidays are a time for shopping and goodwill—but every holiday season also brings out the fraudsters looking to take advantage of your good cheer. Here are a few tips to keep your finances safe from criminals.

  1. Global Credit Union used to be named Alaska USA—any websites, logos, letterheads, or other materials that still have Alaska USA listed should be viewed with suspicion on your part.
  2. Members can be deceived by scammers setting up fake websites or social media ads to offer attention-grabbing deals. These scammers may impersonate a legitimate business like Global, but never deliver on the promised products and services. If in doubt, visit the Global website directly at globalcu.org.
  3. If you’re not 100% sure who you’re talking to, hang up and call us directly. It’s the safest way to ensure you’re talking to a Global representative. Don’t worry about hurting our feelings—we’d rather you be confident in the transaction you’re making.

Around the community

We love to get out and get involved—here are a few events we’ve participated in this year.

United Way

Our team members and executives recently volunteered their time in Alaska, Arizona, and Washington—participating in United Way’s Connecting for a Cause initiative to benefit local nonprofits. Great work, team!

Operation Homefront

Global employees showed up to Operation Homefront’s Family Game Night assembly event in Anchorage, Alaska. Gift bags included snacks and board games for the whole family. It doesn’t get any better than game night!

International Credit Union (ICU) Day

In honor of ICU Day, Global Credit Union and 19 other area credit unions joined together in support of Spokane Valley Partners for an International Credit Union Day project. They volunteered their time to organize food donations, sort clothing items, pack diapers, and more. Way to go!
