Global Community Guidelines

Global Credit Union is a people-before-profit, member-owned credit union. We care about the financial wellbeing of our members and our communities.

On social media, our mission is to accurately inform and enthusiastically inspire people to take charge of their financial lives and futures.

At work, at play, online and off, we adhere to The Golden Rule.

We appreciate your participation in the Global Credit Union online community, however, please know that we reserve the right to remove inappropriate comments. By inappropriate, we mean:

  • Misinformation – Anything that is factually incorrect or a distortion of the facts.
  • Spamming – Repeating the same message twice or more in the same or different areas on our social media accounts. Instead, direct message, email, or call us if you are not getting a timely response on social media.
  • Trolling – Deliberately posting comments online with the intention of upsetting others and creating a hostile environment on our social media channels, particularly if others join in on the negative attacks.
  • Disruptive posts - Posting negative comments or attacks on random posts on our social media channels unrelated to the post content.
  • Personal attacks – We do not condone aggressive or rude comments addressed to or about others, including members of our community and our employees.
  • Explicit material – Anything that would qualify as rude or obscene by the average person or anything not appropriate for children.
  • Illegal activities – Phishing, scamming, violating copyrights, or conducting illicit business on our social media channels is strictly prohibited.
  • Racism, sexism, and any other form of discrimination.

Any posts or comments that violate our Community Guidelines may be hidden from view or removed.

Any member who repeatedly violates any or all of our guidelines or who actively creates what any reasonable person would deem a hostile environment may be banned without warning.

We do not edit your comments. If they are visible in our community and your name or social media handle is attached to it, then they are your words.

By posting anything to our online community, you are giving us your implied permission to reuse, republish, refer to, and otherwise use your words in any format or medium.

When you post or comment on any of our social media accounts, please keep these things in mind:

  1. Be kind. The Golden Rule applies here. Comments should remain on-topic, polite, and respectful.
  2. Be discerning. Please make sure whatever you share in our forums is appropriate to a forum about financial wellbeing and financial products. By uploading anything to our social accounts, you are implying you have all permissions to publish it, including memes and screenshots.
  3. Be truthful. We work hard to check our facts. We ask that you do the same. If something seems suspect, we may be obligated to delete it.
  4. Add value. While we know that value is in the eye of the beholder, we hope that you contribute comments in the spirit of elevating this community to higher levels of discourse and to provide information useful to the community at large.
  5. Link appropriately. Please confine the links in your comments to appropriate, relevant information.
